As the 2016 Scalarama DIY film festival begins, the London Underground is born anew as the Night Tube. With Resonance FM, we invite the public to join us this September as nocturnal flâneurs, exploring the Scala map and links between London films and London locations.
Roz and Tim loiter on Clapham Common, near to the home of Angela Carter, screen-writer with director Neil Jordan of ‘The Company of Wolves‘. Our guest in the studio is Rosemary Hill, who’s edited a collection of Carter’s published verse from 1963-1971, ‘Unicorn‘.
Roz and Tim visit the plaque, on the southbound platform, Finchley Central Underground Station to London Underground map designer Harry Beck, and discuss the British Transport film ‘Under Night Streets‘ in light of Beck’s imagining of London’s underworlds.
