Three waitresses fall in love as their boss sells off the cafe’s food on the Black Market. In one sequence, two of the women go to the employment exchange on Barnsbury Road. One of a number of support features made for Rank at Highbury Studios at nearby 96A Highbury New Park. Highbury Studios gave Diana Dors her first featured role and Elisabeth Lutyens the first credit as a female composer in British cinema, both for ‘Penny and the Pownall Case‘.
