Rotherhithe – The Giant Behemoth (1959)

The Giant Behemoth (1959) | Rotherhithe

Foreign Paleosaurus shows up in Rotherhithe and ruins everything. Nearly a shot for shot remake of Lourie’s earlier ‘The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms’, the stop motion sequences are by animation legend Wilis (King Kong) O’Brien. Rotherhithe is home to its own fossil behemoth, the Brunel’s mighty Thames tunnel was the first subaqueous tunnel structure in the world. Now it flits past as a section of the Overground line, memorialised on the station platform’s walls.
