Whitechapel – The Small World Of Sammy Lee (1953)

The Small World Of Sammy Lee (1953) | Whitechapel

Sammy (Anthony Newley) takes a cab to Whitechapel, the Tube station is seen from his viewpoint as it drives past, to borrow money from his brother to pay off a gambling debt. Ken Hughes’ now much admired thriller about strip clubs and Soho lowlifes is a clear influence, along with ‘Beat Girl’ and ‘Expresso Bongo’, on Edgar Wright’s ‘Last Night In Soho’.
